| Au Pair/Nanny job description |
| Greetings from Arlington, Virginia, just across the river from Washington, D.C.! We are looking for a creative, cheerful, reliable, enthusiastic, loving nanny with good judgment to welcome into our family. Our nanny should have experience with infants, toddlers, and young children. In addition to English, both children have learned significant German and Spanish from our current nanny and neighbors, and we would like to continue to develop their language skills.
Driving the children to school, classes, or other activities will be necessary. We have a car for your use, but you should have a driver's license and a safe driving record.
Knowledge of CPR and basic first aid are preferable, but we would be willing to sponsor training.

| Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies |
| We are an active family with two children. Our daughter Annabelle turned 3 in January, is fully potty-trained, and will be starting school in September. Our son John turned 1 in November, is walking, knows some baby sign language (please, thank you, milk, more, all done, etc.), and is also beginning to talk. Our neighborhood is very close-knit and social, with lots of young children, nannies, au-pairs, and stay-at-home Moms to visit and plan activities with.
Both children are bright, inquisitive, and imaginative, and they like to explore their world by playing in the park, going on walks, singing, reading books, or doing "projects" -- coloring, painting, playing with clay, building with blocks, or doing just about anything outside. Both children enjoy field trips, such as to pick fruit or vegetables, or visit a local zoo, park, aquarium, farm, or arts center.
In our spare time, we enjoy gardening, photography, and boating on the Chesapeake Bay, which is nearby. We also spend time playing with our mixed-breed hound dog, Cookie, whom we adopted from a local shelter in 2001. |
