| "I CAN START AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS I'M IN NEW YORK CTY NOW (BROOKLYN))"
Dear Host Family! My name is Ania and I’m from Ukrainian town Nikolaev. Writing this letter I’m going to be sincere with you as much as possible for I really want you to get to know me thoroughly. I would like to tell you a bit about myself and my experience with children in this letter. I guess, first of all it would be right to say that I have just graduated from the pedagogical university and my specialty is a teacher of the English and German languages. I think, if a person makes up his mind to become a teacher, he should love kids and be in charge of them in fact. Every year I had some practice in school, so, now I really know who children are and what they need :). Above all they are personalities, and moreover very clever and talented ones, and all they need is certain help from us, grown-ups, to make their talents and skills flourish. This year I had my final practice, so it was pretty responsible and quite exciting work because I needed to show everything I could do. We all know that children are so unpredictable. So, one of my tasks was to adapt to the situation! Well, having recalled my school years I definitely knew that children wait from a teacher something very interesting and useful at the same time. There were 13 personalities in my class and their tempers differed much. They all were 12-13 years old. Much to my surprise, having entered the class-room, kids became quiet and reacted on me like I really was a real teacher, not some senior pupil. That made me happy =). So I was trying to do everything to make them happy in response. I tried to get them interested in a foreign language as now it’s wide-spread and of great importance for future life. I made it through games, some tongue-twisters or just through the conversation about life. We spoke about friendship, love and hatred, hobbies and plans for future. Almost all the time I was acting like a friend of them, and surely didn’t forget that I came to teach. I understood their feelings, sometimes after my lesson they asked me for some piece of advice. During 2 months of my practice we got attached to each other pretty much, they didn’t let me go and I actually didn’t want to leave them, but this is our life, we come and we go. I had to continue my study. But now we are communicating through the Internet with some of them, just like friends or members of one “family”. Oh, by the way, my family! =) I’m gonna describe us. There are four of us: my parents, my elder sister and I. My father is electro-gas welder; he works abroad for more than 10 years already. Unfortunately I see him seldom. Once in three months. I really miss him. My father is very smart, he is radio ham and computer fan, he likes to repair or invent something. My mother is housewife. She likes to cook and to look after the flowers. She likes to take care of everyone of our family. She takes a great interest in body-flex. My sister is 25 and she has legal education but she works as the translator. Unfortunately, I have no grandparents any more… But I have 12 cousins: 8 sisters and 4 brothers. Well, I really love my family as it is part of me and I am a part of it. I always get countenance from it. Well, speaking about me and my hobbies, I should say that there are a lot of them as I’m Gemini by horoscope and lefthander in addition. If you know such persons have versatile interests and creative ability. Sometimes I like to read about human psychology, sometimes I like to lie in my bed thinking about life. No, actually lying in bed is not my hobby ? I like to move, to express my vital energy. I went in for hikes and parachute sports. Yeah, sky is my passion. Sometimes, when I feel bad, I like to walk and to write lyrics. I have no musical education, but music is a great part of my life, it helps me a lot to survive. I like composing music on computer. Also I like to photograph nature and people, especially friends. As I like photographing I really love to travel and to take photos of new places and new people. So, I guess, this is the one reason why I have decided to come to USA as aupair: it’s a great opportunity for me to get to know culture different from our, new country, new traditions, new ideology, and it’s the chance to master the language. The other reason, of no less importance, is my wish to help the family to take care of a child (children) and I hope that my host-family will understand me and will try to help me to become absorbed in new life and not “to get lost” in new situations.
Sincerely, Ania
P.S. So I live in NYC for 6 months already and looking for my host-family! :) if this is you, |
