Au Pair/Nanny job description

The hours of the position are generally 8:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There is the possibility of a break during the period our youngest child is in kindergarten. The main aspect of the job is childcare. Only light housekeeping duties are required. A typical day consists of preparing the children for school, making lunches, taking the children to school, doing clean up, laundry or preparing meals, picking up the children from school, playing games, doing crafts, or outdoor play with the children, taking them to activities and supervising or assisting with homework. During summer and other school holidays, you may be responsible for all three children for the whole day.

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

We are family with three happy, intelligent and energetic boys aged 9, 7, and 5. Our boys are well-rounded and enjoy sports, music and reading. They participate in running, swimming, soccer and baseball. All three boys are in choir and the older two play piano. Some of our favorite family activities include reading, playing games, bike riding, kayaking, hiking, or just playing at a park. We are looking for a part-time or full-time nanny to participate in caring for our children. We are flexible with respect to whether our nanny lives in or lives out, and may have some flexibility with respect to hours of work. We hope to find a person who is enthusiastic, kind, and even-tempered to fit in with our family - someone who knows how to motivate children, use positive reinforcement and to work with children of different ages at the same time. The ability to do creative activities, games and songs in both English and French is an asset. We live in a large, older home in Vancouver, one of the best cities in the world in which to live! We speak English, but would like a nanny who also speaks French as our children attend a French immersion school and speak French at varying levels according to their age. Our previous french-speaking nannies have really helped our children to become confident in their french, and we have helped them improve their English. We are easy going, fair, and respectful. We want to find someone who can be a part of our family. We are flexible about nationality, but we prefer someone who is able to legally work in Canada, as the process of obtaining a visa can be long.
