| Au Pair's Message to Families |
| Hi, I'm Federica from the north of Italy (BZ). I'm 21 years old. In 2005/06 I was in New York, working as an au-pair for 3 lovely and very active ;-) kids - Gail, 5 yrs. ,Dennis, 3 yrs and sweet Jody 8 months. It was a great experience for me, and even though it was challenging at times, it was the best thing I could've done. About myself: I love swimming and playing volleyball as well. Art is my passion. I'm not particularly good at drawing, but I love being creative. With Gail I did innumerable art projects, she is a natural talent! She still is very into art and getting better and better. I also like playing soccer(even if I'm NOT a Ronaldinho:-) ) I love travelling and all kinds of fun activities. I like watching TV, but sometimes I just get sick of it and prefer to read a book, which helps me relax. I speak fluently German (native language), Italian, English and a little French (4 years in school). Well Latin too, but that won't help me I guess.... My family and I live in the North of Italy, it's a bilingual region. I live in the German part, so the school I used to frequent was German, as well as most of my friends are. I have two brothers, Othmar,19 and Antonio 16. They're fun but sometimes obnoxious - as most brothers are I guess. I also have a cute dog, Ares, he's a German shepherd. What I definitely learned in my time as an aupair is to be patient, fun but also firm. It's an act of balancing. In New York I noticed that many aupairs frequent college as well, and that's exactly what I would like to do. I will study law in Rome (or alternatively in Milan) and I'm looking for a host family that I will work for in turn. I will speak only in English to your children if you wish so, or I could give them German lessons. I will babysit in the evenings if you feel like going out and I would be willing to occasionally help out in the weekends. If you're interested please don't hesitate and as really lucky with the family that picked me last time. We immediately got along very well and very soon I felt like home, and I still miss them. You will obviously be able to talk to them and get to know their opinion about me. And you can ask me whatever questions you have.
