| Au Pair/Nanny job description |
| This job is an excellent opportunity for a person who wants to discover French language and culture while living within a family with 3 sweet, fun kids.
The schedule leaves ample free time for the au pair to study French and pursue other activities (sports, visits, etc.). French classes are available in nearby Fontainebleau.
The weekly total of 18 hours are divided between morning and evening hours, on four days of the week. Duties are basically to take children to and from school, take care of breakfast and dinner, monitor them after school and do light housecleaing. More detail is available on Question 5 of my online interview or on request.
The au pair has her own room, with bathroom & toilet down the hall. |
| Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies |
| We have already welcomed aupairs and have found the experience to be positive and enriching. The au pair becomes part ot the family, like a visiting cousin and an invaluable aid with the three children. Bret, our last au pair, was formerly a camp counselor and Eagle Scout. He worked from September 2007 until June 2008. Previously we welcomed Dagmara, a young woman from Poland and Margo, a 21 year old from Florida. The kids are active and happy to interact with an aupair. Sam, 14, skateboards, plays drums and guitar. Clementine, 13, plays basketball, is a champion runner, plays piano and guitar. Benajmin, 8, plays basketball, soccer & guitar. They are all avid readers, enjoy art and learning about other cultures. 90% of the time, the kids are well behaved. Very occasionally the aupair has to step in to keep things on track. Our house is in a quiet, safe area at the edge of the forest, near schools, shops + train. Paris is 45 min away by train. We're close to lovely natural and historical sites: Fontainebleau, 2 rivers & countless km of forest. Ideal for walks, horseback riding & biking. My ex-wife lives 5 km away and has the children regularly. We are on reasonably good terms. I observe Jewish holidays and customs but respect other faiths and enjoy the exchange with people from other horizons. |
