Au Pair/Nanny job description

40-something family, primarily American, living in United States. Family speaks English. Looking for a female Au Pair or Nanny. Our aupair will need to have a driver's license. Light housekeeping is required, and we will not accept an aupair that smokes. Primary Role is to take excellent care of and interact with our children. In addition AP will be required to do housework related to the children (laundry, keeping their room clean & tidy, food prep & feeding, going for walks and being generally active etc.) and may be asked to perform general household chores (e.g. light cleaning, food prep etc.) like any member of the family. AP will be part of our family and MUST be responsible, honest and trustworthy. PERK: If we are required to take business trips we may request you to travel with us.

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

We're looking for an honest and trustworthy person who most of all loves being with and taking care of young children... to join our family. We currently live in Maryland and will be moving to Syracuse, NY in August 2008. We are an active, easy going family. Our kids are our pride and joy - a 7yo girl and 3yo boy who are happy kids and easy to care for (except when it's time for bed!) We have jobs that require us to sometimes work outside of the home and need to ensure that they're well cared for when we can't be there. Being able to drive is a definite plus since public transport is not the most convenient. You will be treated as an adult member of our family who has responsibilities like we all do. This means that in addition to looking after the children (#1 priority), you will be required to clean up after yourself and assist with general household chores and perhaps errands. Smoking & excessive drinking (no drinking at all while working) are vices that we do not tolerate.
