| Dear Family,
My name is Nicole and I am a 22-year-old American. I will be arriving October 25th and will be living with a family in West London (Shepherd’s Bush) as their au pair. The hours I am required to work for them are minimal, so, with their encouragement, I am seeking an additional position as a live-out au pair, housekeeper, and/or personal assistant in the London area. Ideally, I would like to start early November, but I could start later if need be. I am flexible regarding hours and pay.
About me:
I currently live in Los Angeles, but grew up in Oregon. I have 2 older sisters, an older brother, and 4 younger half sisters. I grew up without a television, so I spent a lot of time reading, playing soccer and tennis, and looking after our pets- dogs, cats, fish, and a guinea pig at one point. Almost every summer I went camping and hiking with my family and attended various summer camps. My mother is from Manchester and I have UK citizenship through her (so I don’t need a visa.) I have fully embraced my heritage and feel very drawn to British culture. I traveled to England with my mother when I was 12 to visit family. I felt very at home, and knew I would return one day.
In high school, I was a good student and was involved in many activities including the tennis team and French Club. I babysat for family friends on a regular basis. I traveled to France the summer after my sophomore year for a month-long home stay. The following summer, I traveled to Germany and did the same thing. I enjoyed my time in Europe very much, and can’t wait to visit it again.
After graduating high school, I moved to Los Angeles to attend university for two years. I then traveled to Buenos Aires for a month. When I returned I served with AmeriCorps (a domestic version of the Peace Corps) by working for a non-profit literacy program that helped Los Angeles youth improve their reading skills. Since then I have been working as a babysitter and a personal assistant. My job as the latter has given me a lot of experience running errands, cleaning, organizing, and keeping things tidy. I have 5 years driving experience here in the US and am willing to drive if need be in the UK, though a few practice rounds would be appreciated as I haven't driven on the left side of the road before! I speak a little French and a tiny bit of German- both are a little rusty, but I know they'll come back if I hear them on a regular basis.
I have many different interests, and I love to learn! I’m an avid reader and enjoy watching films (especially foreign and independent), playing tennis, dancing, swimming, traveling, listening to music and going to the park among many things. I’m still exploring different career options, but am seriously considering something involving sign language. I’m also exploring different places to live, and am looking at London as a possibility. I would love to give a special family or couple the help they need, whatever it may be. I am mature, bright, kind, practical, easy-going, and love children and animals!
If I sound like I might a good fit for your family, I would love to hear from you! Thanks for reading, and have a lovely day.
Sincerely,
Nicole :)
