Ciao! My name is Beth and I graduated from the University of Hawaii in May 2005 with a degree in Zoology. However most recently I played professional water polo in Catania, while living in Aci Trezza, from Oct. 2006-June 2007, and in Messina from Oct. 2007-May 2008. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Sicily and have returned this September, looking for work. This past summer I was certified to teach English to foreign students. I have had a few interviews and am looking into my options. As of now I am schedule to work in Catania 2 days a week with children ages 2-6 in the mornings teaching english. I am also volunteering with the junior squad of Catania's Professional Women's Water Polo team, Orrizonte. However these work opportunities are not enough to live off of. The school is aware of the situation and I am trying to work out the best solution. I am hoping to find a family in the area that needs a nanny for long term, and more hours each week or something to work around the schedule. Either way I plan on living in Sicily for as long as possible so please st 10 years I have worked with children ranging from 5 months to 16 in several different environments. As a coach, I have taught young athletes new techniques and tactics in the area of swimming and water polo. As a camp counselor, I supervised and participated in daily activities that involved sports, arts, and educational lectures. While in school I was a part time nanny to a busy family in the afternoons and weekends. As a teacher’s assistant for a special education class, I worked with students in one-on-one or small group settings and presented lessons in creative and fun ways. Most recently last summer I was a nanny for 3 months for 5 kids averaging 50 hour weeks. I am a very easy going individual that will encourage good manners and behavior. I am patient with children and understand they are only kids. I love being active whether outdoorts or in a museum. If the children are older I prefer not to sit inside and love to expose the kids to new things or events going on. In the long run I just want to create a trusting relationship where we can have fun and learn something new each day.
