| Hi I am Lisa. I would love to tell you a bit about myself and what I believe a job as a nanny would entail.
In dealing with children, I feel that if we as adults treat the child with respect, they will respect us. If we say please and thank you to a child they will respond in the same polite manner. I truely listen to children and can empathize with the feelings they go through. I love children and they can often see me as a big kid myself rather than just another authoritive adult. I can become your child's best friend as well as caregiver, not to mention a parents right arm.
I have been a nanny for so many years that I truely feel I have perfected it. I have worked with children of all ages and abilities and am yet to find one who makes me not love my job. I am a Mary Poppins at heart who just loves children and loves being a part of their everyday lives. I have been sick once in two years & Close contact with children has built my immunity towards their daily illnesses, No physical restraints. No allergies to pets etc.
I have childcare experience with Newborns - 10+ years, special needs children & multiples (twins, triplets, etc.) I have experience driving with children, traveled with families, willing to become CPR and First Aid Certified, and experience with asthmatics.
I am currently employed, but my little girls (twins) are four and will be attending full time nursery school in the fall, the family will not need me full time beginning in early June, since the girls will be in camp all morning.
I am willing and capable of Planning, preparing and cleaning up after children's meals (Adhering to special dietary rules) Transportating of children from bus stop, Planning activities for the children, Coordination of play group activities/get togethers with neighborhood children, Children's baths and dressing, Children's laundry (twice weekly minimum), Children's Shopping, Straightening up children's bedroom and play area(s), Transporting the children during work hours, Keeping children's bathrooms neat during work hours, and Running child related errands. I am willing and capable of Keep a grocery list, Keep the kitchen tidy during work hours, Feed pets during work day, Parent's laundry, Grocery shopping regularly, Run/Empty dishwasher daily, Empty kitchen trash as required, Run non-child related errands.
My thoughts on disipline and calming:
In younger children, I feel a child under 2 should never be allowed to cry. They are unable to voice their needs and therefore rely on us as adults to help them to achieve their ultimate goal. Children over two generally have found their voice and are able to tell us what they need. I believe if a child is unable to voice their concerns for one reason or another, there is an underlying issue and I will sit and talk with the child. Attempting in one way or another to draw the child out and feel they can talk with me. I build a caring and loving relationship with all of my children and have never had any concern over their behavior. I have treated the babies with love and care so much that I can often sense what the child is needing by their cry. In older children, I communicate on their level through discussions and interesting child like conversations. At worst, only in older children, I would give them a time out and time to cool off before logically discussing the problem with the child and together coming to some type of solution. Other than that, I follow all parents rules and have never had a problem with the communication of needs between myself and the parents for their children. I do not promote excess viewing of television, but if the time arises I attempt to encourage educational shows and often opt. for creative games. I come from a single parent home where my mother was everything to me and I to her. I was brought up with respect for my elders and an undying love for my mother. I am a single mom with two honor student daughters who are cared for by my mother on a daily basis. They love and support my feelings toward being a nanny. They have often had wonderful relationships with the families I have worked for and equally share my love for children. I am a college graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and one day wish to persue my Doctrine. Thank you in advance for your time. Sincerely, LP
