Nanny's Message to Families

Dear family, Hello! I work with a not-for-profit corporation,live in the U.S. and have traveled extensively. The work I do can be done from anywhere, and so I love moving and meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. I have always been a part of the lives of children through babysitting, being a temporary nanny twice, and doing volunteer work. (Not to mention I have a great big family with lots of nieces and nephews!) Since I was young I have had a heart for children so have always sought to be a positive part of their lives in some way. I worked in the Russian far east with street kids and orphans and took 2 trips to refugee camps in Bosnia and Guatemala. Since then I have been living in Philadelphia and caring for a man with cerebral palsy and being a part-time nanny for a lovely family here. I am now looking for a fairly specific situation. I am looking forward to staying home in the U.S. now doing volunteer work here and some writing and music. I am looking for a position with separate quarters where I can write during the day or whenever the schedule allows depending on ages. I like early mornings so getting kids off to school etc...would be no problem, and then I'd of course be there to help them out in the afternoon/evening. Helping on weekends could certainly be worked out as well. I am laid-back but I take the role of not only being responsible for children, but being a positive influence in their lives, very seriously. I'm always available and flexible at various times when your schedule changes or when kids are sick, have in-service days etc... That's the great thing about volunteer work, music and writing! I grew up with lots of sports, camping, hiking etc..., and am a classically trained vocalist but like tons of different music. I also love to read and be anywhere near the ocean. There are lots of things I like about being in a city (good coffee, arts, sushi, shopping...) but I also love the country and would always love to be near horses especially! I'd be more than happy to pitch in around the house, and cook for the kids if that's part of your need. I cook very healthy meals for myself, but am also a pro by now at chicken nuggets, hot dogs and the like! Most importantly, I have integrity and a big heart. Looking forward to hearing from you! Erin
