Au Pair job description

We need someone who is caring, patient, organized, and most of all flexible. Your main responsibility will be the care of our 8 month old Margaret and 2 1/2 year old Makenna. Makenna will go to preschool 3 days a week beginning in September 2008. Our two 13 year old sons, Ryan and Harrison are at school most of the day. They need more guidance, boundaries and a good role model than actual "babysitting". We are a blended family, and they spend every other weekend, and one day a week with their "other family".

Family's Message to Au Pairs

We are seeking a loving, caring, patient, adaptable, flexible, mature, responsible, reliable, honest, generous, open minded, firm, fun person to be a positive role model for our children and a part of our family. Ideally someone with the perfect balance. There is a time to have fun and be silly, and we cherish those moments. We also want well set boundaries, that teach our children appropriate behavior, and to know that rules must be followed, even if, as children, we don't always agree with them or understand them. I'm looking forward to giving my children the opportunity to learn about a different culture, their customs, traditions, and languages, as well as share our own. They are all very excited about having another culture brought into our life, as well as a new member joining our family. There is never a dull moment in our family. As our answering machine message says "We are out, or just out of control..." The main reason we felt we needed an au pair is to be able to spend more quality time with all of our children. This may not make sense to you, but we simply need "an extra set of hands". I want to be able to take my older boys to a movie or an amusement park that my daughters would not enjoy. We would all enjoy it more, including her, if she was playing at the park, swimming with an au pair, or even napping at home. When I'm driving one to a sporting event, friends house or even an appointment, I don't want them to have to be dragged along. If they have something at the same time, I want them to be able to get there with out any of us being stressed or late. I don't want them to be selfish, but I don't want them to miss out on life because we have other children. I think one of the most difficult parts about this position will be spreading yourself between all of the children. I struggle to balance my time with children of extremely different ages, and interests. We love the outdoors, and love to be able to discover with our children My children love music, drama, and are very artistic. We enjoy traveling. We spend a lot of time at Lake Tahoe during the Summer, as well as a few ski and snowboard weekends during the Winter. It is 3 hours away to our family's house in Incline Village, NV. We have a lot of family in the area who love to spend time with all the children, so you will have a lot of free time to explore the area. Your main schedule will be 5 days a week during the week. Our children are the most important thing in our life, and I need someone who understands that , and will feel the same. We are looking for someone that will care about them, and be able to take care of them with love, patience and responsibility. This person will be an integral part of my children's future. Like parenting, this is not an easy job, but very rewarding. I’m sure you will enjoy the experience you have with our family as much as we will enjoy you!
