| dear au pair,
the best information I can give you is a reference from our current au pair, joanna from marseille, france. here's what she wants you to know: We have a lovely house and a nice yard. You will have a private room and bathroom (only sharing the bathroom with guests when they are here). there are a number of universities, schools, and centers where you can take classes in art, language, film, anything you like! The cost of living is not high here, so your dollars go a long way.
my husband is a very good dad. He loves our daughter sydney and plays with her all the time. He may not be very talkative, but he's a nice guy and family is the most important thing to him. He works in television and so has evening hours. I work from home as a management consultant and am here if you need me during the day. I am a good cook (mostly vegetarian these days) and am happy to teach you or learn from you! I like to make food from greece, mexico, lebanon, france - basically anywhere that has tasty food! My daughter is my number one priority. My other priority will be making sure you are healthy and happy here and that you have a good experience with our family! I speak spanish and modern greek fluently, and my french is pretty elementary. Our daughter understands french, (from her french nanny and a previous nanny from senegal) and it would be great if that could continue. You need to drive to have a good experience here - make sure you have an international license and your english is good enough to pass a written drivers' test within 3 months of coming here. The winter here is a typical midwestern winter - lots of beautiful snow and cold weather.
our daughter sydney loves to be outside - playing in the yard or going for walks. She loves to read books and help turn the pages. She is curious and loves to explore the world around her. She loves people and loves to laugh and dance. She is a very easy baby to take care of. She cries rarely and only for good reason (hungry, tired, etc.) She is close to walking and talking and you can be here for some of her first moments!
if you are interested in us, we are happy to talk to you to see if we are a good fit!
looking forward to hearing from you! |
