30-something family, primarily American, living in United States. Family speaks English, French, Korean, and Mandarin. Looking for a female Au Pair or Nanny. Our aupair will not need to have a driver's license. Light housekeeping is not required, and we will not accept an aupair that smokes.
We are a Korean-American/French 30+ professional family currently residing in Beijing, China looking for a young Korean woman to care for our 2-year old son Taeho part-time while studying Chinese for one year. In addition to room, board and airfare, we would one hour of Chinese lessons each day and provide a small monthly allowance. We have a full-time Chinese housekeeper who cooks and does the housework, but we would ask you to prepare Taeho's breakfast and evening meal, clean up the kitchen after Taeho's meals, and cook some Korean meals for the family. Taeho attends attends nursery school from 8-4pm, which would give you most of the day to study Chinese and pursue other interests. We would need your help to pick-up Taeho after school, in the evenings, during part of the weekend, and when Taeho's school is on recess. We would also need a bit more help when we are both traveling.
Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies
We hope that you will become part of the family and have a personally fulfilling and educational time in Beijing. It is important to us that you develop personally and professional during your stay here so would prefer someone who is interested in studying Chinese. We are looking for someone who is responsible, independent, diligent, has a strong sense of self and service, and who is motivated to learn and grow, as these objectives are a critical part of our lives and philosophy. Una (Taeho's mother) is working on her Phd and is in China to conduct research. She will mostly be working from home and traveling for periods of time to conduct research. Laurent is a management consultant and usually travels during the week. You would share a room with our good friend Lily who is a bright 23-year old Chinese woman studying teaching Chinese as a second language at Beijing Language University. Lily would also provide one hour Chinese tutorials each day. This is a continuation of the arrangement we made for our previous au pairs to enable her to have a friend as well as more opportunities to study Chinese. We speak 4 languages at home: Korean, Chinese, French, and English. Our apartment is a large, modern 3-bedroom in the center of Beijing located next to the subway. We look forward to hearing from you! Feel free to contact us in Korean or English. We will return to the Boston in the summer of 2009 and would consider inviting the right person to come to the U.S. with us, noting that the workload would be greater at that time.
