Au Pair's Message to Families

I am from Monterrey, Mexico. I live in Dallas. I have experience as an Au Pair in Chicago. I was the caregiver of an 18 year-old disabled boy. I am very patient with children and people with special needs. I used to be a 4th grade teacher for Dallas Independent School District, and used to work as an assistant in summer camps in Monterrey. I find working with children as a very enriching and rewarding activity. I always learn something from them. My interests are acting, theater, movies and reading. I love to read aloud to children and act out the characters. That makes them feel interested in reading. I think it's important to provide children with an integral education, which includes moral and academics. I believe in disciplining children instead of punishing them; explaining them the expected behavior; and the consequences of breaking a rule, would help them to better understand right from wrong in a safe and kind manner, yet firmly.
