Update 23 June 2008: Dear Au Pair, we have found someone who is going to stay with us from November 2008 on. We are therefore looking for someone who is interested in a short term position (preferably from August - through October 08).
Update 23 March 2008: Dear Au Pair, the candidate who was supposed to stay with us from July on just informed us that she won't be able to come. Therefore, we are looking for someone who would be available from July on.
Update 23 February 2008: Dear Au Pair, as we have found an au pair for the summer months (May - Sept.), the earliest we would hire another au pair would be from September 2008 on.
Dear Au Pair, we, a German family who has lived for 3 years (2002 - 2004) in Cambridge, MA, USA and who has been living for 3 years now in the middle of Germany (small village in between the University towns Marburg and Giessen, about 90 km (approx 50 miles) north of Frankfurt) are looking for an au pair whose main job will be to look after our 3 kids. Since our oldest daughter has both American and German citizenship, we would like to bring her up bilingually. Obviously, it is not practical to raise just one of your 3 kids bilingually, therefore we aim at bringing up all of them bilingually. Therefore, we are looking for someone whose first language is English. The main duty of the au pair will be to spend time with the kids. Consequently, we would like to hire someone as an au pair who is really!!! interested in spending time with children < 6 yrs. Presently, our 3 kids go to kindergarten where they spend half a day until lunch time. Therefore, during weekdays, the main working time for the au pair will be during the afternoon. Accordingly, this will allow the au pair to attend classes during the morning hours in either of the two University towns. Housework will also be part of the job, however to a very limited extent (most likely less than 10% of the total work time). German language skills are not a requirement for this job. However, we are happy to help anyone whose intention is to either learn German from scratch or to improve their German language skills. Either way, your German will improve rapidly once you are exposed to German language 7 days a week… About us: Kristin used to work as a graphic designer and now works as a full time mum. Dirk works as a physician at . After having lived the first 38 years in major cities such as Hamburg, Kiel and Boston we decided to move temporarily to the countryside because of the kids safety. Living in Allendorf allows to take advantge of the rural life while having the towns of Marburg and Giessen near by. We live in our own 6 bedroom house on a yard of about 900 square meters. More details about us, the work involved as well as how to best match our expectations with yours can best be discussed over the or by e-mail. We are looking forward to hearing from you, bye - Kristin and Dirk P.S. References available
