Au Pair job description

If you're interested in becoming an au-pair in our family, you'll have to take care of our kids for 4,5 day's a week. Monday till Thursday and Friday morning, about 30 hours a week. The weekend you have time of. Three to four times a month we will ask you to take care of the kids in the evening. We expect that you full filths light household duties, like cleaning your room and your bathroom on the top floor, laundry, ironing, grocery shopping and prepare cooking or cook on Monday till Tuesday. We do have a house cleaning lady for 6 hours a week to full fill all the heavy household duties. PS: Currently we are NOT a paying member.

Family's Message to Au Pairs

Information about our family: My name is Sigrid the name of my partner is Remco. Remco is born in Amsterdam on the 17th of November 1958. Remco has 2 brothers and 3 sisters. I'm born in The Hague on the 20th of April 1963. I've got 1 brother and both my parents. We have two children, Stef and Nina. Stef is born in Oudewater on the 19th of August 2000. Nina is born in Oudewater on the 5th of November 2001. Remco is working as a consultant for his own company, 5 days a week. I'm working as a project manager, 4 days a week. On Friday I've got my parttime day and I'm taking care of Stef and Nina. We normally do not work in the weekends. On working days we leave home between 7:30 and 8:00 and arrive back home again somewhere between 18:00 and 19:00. We both like sports. Skiing, playing golf and playing squash are what we both like. I go the sports club in Oudewater one or two times a week. Once in a while we go to the theatre. At the moment Stef is 8 years old. He is a very enthusiastic boy, who smiles and sings a lot and likes to get the attention. There are a lot of things he likes to do, such as judo, swimming, football, reading books, writing, colouring, make puzzles, play with Lego and play with the computer. Nina is 6,5 years old. She is a sweet and easy little girl. She loves to go to playing grounds, dancing, singing and swimming. Furthermore she likes 'barbie' and playing the prinsess very much. Stef and Nina are going to school from Monday till Friday, Starting at 8:30 till around 14:45 (except on Wednesday). We live in a very old house, build somewhere at the beginning of 1600. Our house has 4 floors. On the top floor we have 2 rooms and one bathroom. One of these rooms and the bathroom will be available for the au pair. The other room is for Stef. On the third floor we have our own sleeping room and bathroom. Also Nina sleeps on this floor. The second floor is our living room, dining room and kitchen. On the first floor is our working room, a little kitchenette and a room we now don't really use. At the back of our house we have a garden. We live in the centre of Oudewater. Oudewater is a little village with about 11.000 inhabitants. There are shops, some pubs and restaurants. Oudewater can be reached by bus from Utrecht, Woerden and Gouda. Oudewater is famous because of the witches weighting in the 15th century, the making of robes and the storks. A lot of tourists visit this place. There are various sporting possibilities and there is an open air swimming pool nearby. We have had au pairs in our family since 2001. Now we have an au pair from Ukrain. Before her we have had eight other au pairs: Anna from Poland, Lenka from Czech, Diana from Romania, Kate from Poland, Kasia from Poland, Mariola from Poland, Tatiana from Russia and Irina from Russia. We think that having an au pair is a good solution for our family. We find it an interesting experience for our family to have some one from abroad in our house. We like to learn from each other about culture, country and language. For the kids it is good to meet people from abroad speaking English, because we would like them to learn English as will as Dutch. That's why we like you to speak English to us and the children (learning Dutch is not really necessary). The most important goal in de development of our kids is to learn them to make decisions en take the consequence of those decisions. We also like them to learn English as a second language. Other important issues are having respect for other people, enjoying live, and be yourself.
