| Dear Family,
Hi! My name is Keally, I am 20 years old and from Dallas, Texas. I am currently in my second year of college at The University of Texas in Austin, Texas where I am majoring in Elementary Bilingual Education with a minor in Spanish. I have been a nanny for families in my neighborhood since the age of 13. I have ample experience and love working with children! My mom is a first grade school teacher, so an interest in childcare runs in the family. I would like to become an Au Pair to expand my horizons, strengthen my Spanish speaking skills and immerse myself in a different culture.
I love traveling and have been to Spain, Great Britain, France, Switzerland and Italy. Spain is special to me, because my Aunt Cecilia is a native Spaniard and her mother and seven siblings still reside in the Madrid and Andalucia region. In the summer of 2006, I spent three weeks living with her mother in Madrid and practicing my Spanish with her many nieces and nephews my age (I also traveled to Cordoba & southern Spain). I hope to eventually become fluent in Spanish, currently I can speak/understand a decent amount and welcome any opportunity to further my learning. I am willing to speak English all or part of the time to help your children with their English skills. I love any part of Europe and hope to live there someday!!
I have previously worked with children from ages 2-16. I am accustomed to taking care of families with lots children (both boys/girls) and lots of energy! During my previous summers, I was a nanny for a family with three children (girl age 7, boy age 6, girl age 3) twice a week. With children I love going on walks outside, swimming, tennis, doing arts and crafts, playing board games, riding bikes, helping with school lessons or just talking with your children. I am very outgoing and make friends easily. I love cooking and do not mind taking on house keeping duties or caring for pets.
Because, I have traveled in Europe I am confident in my ability to navigate my way through European cities (by metro, walking, or bus...) I am very good with directions and love exploring! My aunt’s Spanish mother and siblings greatly influenced my love for the Spanish people, food, and everyday environment! While in Italy I have stayed with my uncle in Perugia in the Umbria region and have traveled to Rome, Florence, Milan and Sardinia. I do not speak Italian but find it very similar to Spanish and therefore I can understand limited amounts. I can't wait to meet your family and learn from you!
I am always sweet and understanding with children, but set boundaries when needed. I would describe myself as friendly, loyal, fun, honest, polite, open-minded and gracious. My hobbies include; time with friends, traveling, running, cooking, journalism, photography, shopping and dancing. Please let me know if you need more information (references) about me, I hope to hear from you soon!
-Because of my school schedule, currently, I am only seeking a summer au pair job (early May-late August). Meaning my time available would be limited to about 3 months. |
