| Nanny's Message to Families |
| hello! My name is kimberley , and I am looking for a nanny position beginning in january 2010. I am available monday through friday 8am-6pm. I am currently looking for position around the chicago area. I’d like to start off by telling you about myself and my childcare style. I do apologize for this being so long, however, when it comes to your children I believe the parents need to be informed about the nanny. A lot of families see that I'm young and they say, "your 27, what could you know about kids?"- I simply tell them that not only did I take child development, child psychology and nutrition all four years in high school and in college, but I have been a professional nanny for the past 6 years. I have a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education with a minor in psychology. I started baby-sitting when I was 12, and haven't stopped! I have always had a love for children and I get fulfillment out of teaching and learning from them. I first started out as a babysitter for a family that had 6 children. All through high school I babysat after school and on weekends. I have 1.5 years of experience as a kindergarten teacher, and have also taught in preschool, first, and second grade classrooms. I'm CPR certified in water safety and first aid, and am in great overall health. I'm fun and I like to do fun things with the kids I watch. I'm a firm believer in children learning through the power of play. I never want to miss an opportunity for your children to learn and create. I always involve them in situations to challenge their developing mind. I am currently learning infant sign language, and when I'm finished I can teach the kids I watch regardless of their hearing status. often children get so frustrated when communicating simply because they have the ability to talk at a very early age but unfortunately can’t verbalize it until they are about 14-16 months old. Its pretty sad but I know where all the coolest parks are, and I’m probably the youngest person without kids to subscribe to parenting magazines! I'd say that I have a substantial amount of experience and I love what I do...I have one of the funniest yet demanding jobs out there! I believe that children do better in life if they are able to bond and have a sense of structure with a care giver. that's why I give my families at least a one year commitment. I have had the pleasure of making some wonderful relationships and keep in contact with almost all of my past families. At the time of interview I provide a full packet with written references, my resume, and my mission statement. I drive one of the safest SUV's on the market and am an excellend driver. I'm smoke-free and drug free. when looking for a nanny, I hope that you would consider what I have to offer. thanks, and have a wonderful day! kimberley |
