Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear host family, my name Anna, I am 18 and in march 2010 I will get my school leaving examination and afterwards I am looking forward to become an au pair maybe even in your family! In my freetime I like to do sports, to play the flute in an orchtestra, do something with friends, hear music or read a book. At the weekends I work at a fast food restaurant. I am very reliable, flexible, spontaneous, dependet, hardworking, mature and responsible. I love children and I love spending my time with them. I would like to become a member of your family so that I'm like a big sister for your children. I would like to do many activities with your children like sports, going outside or other things they like to do. I am very open to new things and I can ensure you that your children and I will always have much fun togehter and that you can rely on me. I early started to take care of children. My best friend Christine, who is going to be a kindergarten teacher, and I often looked after neighbor's children in the afternoon when I was about eight years old. A few years later we also started to take care for them in the evening. In 2006 I became godmother of my cousin Philipp. I really love caring for and playing with him and his two brothers. I also made childcare experiences as peer mediator in school, where I helped students to solve their problems, as private tutor in mathematics, as trainer for an athletic group and during an internship in a kindergarten. Skills which I have learned during caring for children are, that you always have to be spontaneous and patient. You are not able to plan a day exactly because everything can change and then you have to be able to come to terms with it. Sometimes you also have to make one's point because otherwise children lose their respect for you. Characteristics I love about children are that they enjoy life and enjoy to discover and to learn new things. They make someone easily laugh and are mostly ever in a good mood. Since nearly five years I have the wish to become an au pair after school because I have a lot of fun when I am together with children. I really like to work with children.
