| Hallo Familie!
I am currently a senior at Stanford University located in California, US and am looking to spend my year (or two) after graduation as an Au Pair in Germany. Last year I lived in Berlin for six months and studied at Freie Universität, Berlin. I first learned German when I moved to Berlin and lived with an older woman, and can now speak intermediate German. I absolutely fell in love with the German culture and am hoping to gain more exposure to the German way of life and the day-to-day experiences by working with a German family.
I grew up in Washington, DC as the second youngest of four children. I am used to a loud and chaotic home-life and am ready for everything. I am an excellent swimmer and taught swim lessons in high school for both young children, and for the mentally and physically disabled. In high school I also baby-sat for several families that ranged from households of two to five persons. I was also a lifeguard for several summers as well as a waitress in a colonial Tea House.
During my sophomore year in college I worked at a library and as a research assistant in order to save money and travel through Europe that summer. From June until September I backpacked through mainly eastern and central Europe, and for the first time truly fell in love with the continent. Going solo, made it much easier for me to be open to new things and cultures. It also allowed me to meet some truly amazing people along the way from all over the world whom I am still in contact with today. After this summer I was extremely thrilled to study and live abroad in Berlin.
At university I have studied American Studies, hoping to eventually enter the legal field. I am interested in international law, and hope that through my experience living in Germany I will be able to perfect my language skills and gain a better feel for living abroad.
I enjoy reading, knitting, kite boarding, languages, and traveling. I am friendly, hard working, enthusiastic, a quick learner, and truly believe I would be a great companion and teacher for your children.
Vielen Dank! |
