| Dear Au Pairs,
We are a loving family looking for a little bit of help.
My name is Claire. I have recently separated from my husband. Our children are Sean (8), Cameron (10), Adam (11) and Desarae (12). We are a recently blended family. I am studying law at university and working in a law firm part-time. Cameron and Sean are our sons. Adam and Desarae are our god-children and moved in with us in late 2008.
I'm sure you can imagine that going from 2 to 4 kids overnight was a bit of a shock. I just find that there aren't enough hours in the day to run the house, look after the kids and study as well. An au pair seems the ideal solution.
We live on the banks of the Swan River, close to the city. Public transport is on the doorstep. We don't actually have room in the house for another person, but my parents have a beautiful home only 5 minutes away and will provide you with full board and lodging. You will also have the use of a car.
After school is the busiest time of the day for me. I am taking the kids to football and gymnastics, supervising their homework and trying to cook tea. I can't always give the kids the attention they deserve, so I am looking for a caring person to help me in the afternoons. I'm looking for a friend and my kids would love to have a big sister. I need you to help me with day-to-day stuff like housework, picking the kids up from school, taking them to footy training etc, listening to them read, helping them with their homework, cooking tea and taking the kids and the dog for walks along the river. You will probably be finished by 7pm.
You might be asked to do some babysitting in the evenings but will have most weekends off. You will also be able to take time off to travel.
We like to think we are fun, flexible, tolerant and welcoming. We have a big extended family, and you will be very welcome at all our family events. My parents are wonderful. They are relatively young, very active and very easy to get along with. They have had several exchange students staying with them in the past and have always looked after them extremely well and treated them like part of the family. If you would like references, you can talk to my Swedish exchange sister who has been part of the family for nearly 20 years.
We are open to any nationality and would prefer you to stay for a minimum of 6 months. The main requirements are that you are sensible, caring, patient, have good English and have a sense of humour.
Are you interested in becoming part of our family?
Love and best wishes,
Claire |
