| Dear family, Hello. My name is Khadija, a mature, 34 year-old mother of one with an excellent/near native command of the English language (no regional inflections). I’d be very pleased if you’d consider me for the nanny/aupair position with your family. I’m a keen housekeeper and have worked as an English Tutor, Librarian, Admin Assistant, and Freelance Writer. My forte is English, and I love working with children of any age, helping shape their minds as well as their lives. I believe I can be of help your family in the following ways:
•As a live-in nanny/aupair, I’d be responsible for the children’s grooming, discipline, manners and all-round character development. Being a Muslim, I would be in a position to answer questions they have on religion, as well as ensure their moral education is along Islamic lines.
•I would spend their after school time with them and create fun, educational art and craft activities like collage and mosaic, screen their movies and games, and tell them bedtime stories (be it Barney and Baby Bop, Sponge Bob, Tarzan, Winnie the Pooh, Aladdin and Sinbad). Trips anywhere would be a wonderful learning experience (for all of us)
•Their fluency in the English language would improve with constant oral practice, and it would be easier to correct any grammatical errors and mispronunciations.
•Homework Supervision to make sure it doesn’t just get done, but done to the best of their abilities and that they enjoy doing it. This would involve making the lessons fun and memorable as well as working with learning software for children. I would be in a position to give my full attention to the children when it comes to studies, as well as have the time to work on any weaknesses that they have.
I love languages and speak fluent English, Kiswahili, basic Arabic and very little French (je parlais francaise mais treh peu) I plan on improving that, as well as pick up some conversational Chinese. I am honest, responsible, organized, and energetic. I’m also dedicated to having a positive influence on children’s lives; love to answer the million-and-one questions that kids usually ask and being their best friend. I love cooking, especially adventurous cooking, travel, children, cats/pets, learning new languages, hiking, swimming, children’s development and creative writing.
Enough about me! :-) Do write and tell me all about your lovely family, the children, their names, interests and quirks, what sort of a family you are, what you want from a nanny, and if you think I’m that perfect match ;-) I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you for your time and do have a great day! My warmest regards to all. Khadija (or Dida) |
