Hi there, we are a young, funny family with four little boys (aged 6, 5, 3 and 2) who are looking for a Thomas the Tank Engine expert, preferably with a degree in dinosaurs and sword fighting, who is a master of silly games and story telling and can do excellent pirate impressions! Our house is noisy, a bit messy, full of toys and music and kids. If you think you can love our monsters as much as we do, then please get in touch!

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

Dear Au Pair, We live in Melbourne, Australia and we need a fun, happy and very patient au pair to look after our four little boys - Bailey (6), Eden (5), Shannon (3) and Christian (2). Mum and Dad work full time and we need a 'big sister' to look after and play with our boys during the day. We want you to feel relaxed and totally at home with us. Looking after four little boys will keep you busy during the day but your evenings and weekends are totally free. We have had several au pairs before and have found that the relationship works really well if you feel like one of the family. And we would love to show you around our beautiful city! Bailey and Eden go to school full time Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 3pm, which leaves only Shannon and Christian at home on those days. Basically, your main job is just to be crazy like a kid and play with them, read them stories, build train tracks, pretend to be a monster, take them on imaginary planes, watch Toy Story 150 times a day - that kind of thing! Other than the fun stuff you will need to dress the boys in the morning, make the hungry monsters breakfast and lunch (don't worry they are not fussy eaters!), pick the older boys up from school, organise bath time and do some housework such as cleaning up after their meals, putting away toys, making their beds and sweeping the floor, etc. if they make a mess - did I mention they make a lot of mess! We live in a very safe, typical Australian suburb and like to do typical Australian things - have barbeques, go to the beach, go to parks, museums and the zoo and we love to go camping. You will have your own room with double bed and television. You can also use the computer, treadmill and have use of a car whenever you like. We don't mind if you smoke outside. We have had au pairs before from Austria, USA, Australia and New Zealand and can supply excellent references as we still keep in touch. A word of warning though - looking after four little boys is VERY HARD WORK. It will not be a picnic all of the time. When you have four small boys, someone is always crying or hitting someone else or taking their toys or needing attention and it is a full time job taking care of them. There are times when you will be tired and grumpy and have had enough of hearing your name called 1000 times a day - believe me, I know! So this job is going to take a lot of energy and patience. If you haven't looked after kids before it might come as a bit of a shock because it is going to take more than just saying 'I love kids, they are so cute'....I love them too but they are not cute all of the time :) The good news is that I work from home full time as a graphic designer and writer which means that I will be around during the day to help out and you won't be left on your own.
