Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear Family, My name is Julie, I'm a 28 years old Brazilian, currently living in Dublin, Ireland. A little information about me: I spent 3 years in the United States (2003-2006), studying Theatre and working as an au pair for an awesome family. In June 2006 I moved back to Brazil to finish my bachelor degree in Tourism, and I graduated in July 2007. Then I joined a luxurious cruise line, where I worked as an Assistant Cruise Director. It was an amazing experience, and I had the chance of seeing beautiful places, including Alaska, the Caribbean, and Antarctica. Although life at sea is very exciting, it is also very challenging, and I realized how much I missed the simple things in life. In March 2009, I left the cruise line and came to Dublin, Ireland, to spend some time with my brother, who lives here, and to study International Tourism, which I will be finishing in December. You are probably wondering why I want to go back to being an au pair. Well, first of all I love kids, and working as an au pair is a great job when you want to learn a culture and a language. Therefore, I am looking for a nice French family, as learning French is a big goal for me now, as it is a requirement to be accepted in Diplomacy school. I already speak three languages fluently: Portuguese, English and Spanish. I understand that most families want someone who is a native English speaker, as for children it is very important to learn a foreign language early. Although I am not a native English speaker, I speak, read and write in English as if it was my first language, and I am absolutely capable of teaching English to your children. My first language is Portuguese, but I've been studying English since I was 8 years old. At the age of 19 I went to California to study ESL for 3 months and that's where I got my international ESL certificate, which allowed me to be an English teacher in Brazil. Six years ago, I went to Texas, where I worked as a live in au pair for two amazing families. I really love them both, and we are still in touch. The first family had to move to Virginia, and through this web site I met the second family. I travelled a lot with them and visited many States in America! Both of them are a blessing in my life! About salary expectations: very negotiable; About driving: I am a very good driver, and have been driving for over 10 years. I am a very responsible person, and I know you will trust me with the most precious things you have.
