Au Pair job description

Due to being badly let down by an aupair not arriving as arranged....we URGENTLY need a new aupair to start as soon as possible 1st Nov 09 I am a single mother to two girls aged 9yrs and 5 yrs. I work full time (40 hrs a week) and can include weekends so an au pair would need to be flexible. Both girls are in full time schooling . I need an au pair to play and care for girls during my working week. She will need to be fun and energetic as both my girls are lively, independant and intelligent. There is plenty to do in the house and garden and in the nearby City centre and parkse girls are good together but like all siblings they occasionally require a good referee to sort out squabbles!! You will need to be able to collect the girls from school,take them to some activities; prepare light meals and help out with light housework. There will be a bicycle for you to use, as my youngest cyles to and from her school (about 1.5miles away).

Family's Message to Au Pairs

Dear Aupair, My name is Lorrayn and I am a single mother to Arabella who is 9 years old and Lucinda who is 5. We live in a beautiful 4 bedroomed house in Canterbury in Kent. It is about a mile walk from the City centre in a quiet street, where my back garden looks out onto open fields, so it feels like you are in the country. Canterbury is a lovely City with a lot of history and the Cathedral. There are a lot of shops and pubs and restaurants, and it is a very popular tourist centre and is such a magical City over Christmas. It also has a number of foreign language schools and I would be willing to help you find study opportunities and friends. I host short stay foreign students in our home as well, but they are out studying most of the days. My girls are used to foreign languages although Arabella only speaks a little Spanish and French and I speak very rusty schoolgirl French! I work with the Police for 40 hrs a week (some shift work). We have a pet cat that lives out most of the time, but hang around when they think they can persuade anyone to feed them (they have the girls quite well trained!!) We also have a few chickens and ducks in the garden.. I hope you like fresh tasty eggs!. My hobbies, when I have the time are gardening (I am very keen on my gardening and we grow some vegetables and fruit to eat) and reading and keeping fit. To save any wasted time and effort from both of us, I guess I should state that I will be willing to pay £55 per week, which I understand is the accepted rate for an aupair. Being a single parent in the current recession I have a very limited budget. I can offer you your own bedroom, all board and lodgings and there is wireless internet throughout the house. The whole of my house would be your home and I would like you to feel part of the family. Or alternatively you could live out as I will mainly require you for daytime/evening hours. All that I ask is that you have a great sense of humour, bags of energy and a fair degree of flexibility when it comes to your working hours in any one week. Our house is manic with no two days the same but it is great fun!!! Lots of friends and family pop in and there is always something happening. girls are fantastic and good fun they just need a play friend and big sister type person with tons of imagination and good ideas, who is good with their homework and reading and I need someone responsible enough to stop them getting into too much mischief. I hope that this letter serves as a good introduction to our family, and that you would enjoy yourself if you came to work with us. My first au pair was with me for 2 1/2 years and only moved on when her daughter started full time education and she started back to her career.Our current aupair is with us until the beginning of Oct when she moves on to further her education in London.
