Alaró, Mallorca. Live-in.
I was nannying for a bright, fun loving little boy of 2.5 year old on the stunning island of Mallorca for a wonderful Spanish couple.
Between Monday-Friday I took care of Hugo, we got along very well. We started our days off with a set routine; lunch, a nap and then lots of playing until around 19:00 when mum arrives home. We would either play with his cars, trains, read endless amounts of books, or practice our words in English. I encouraged Hugo to learn through our play time and incorporate such skills as sharing, caring, caring for our hygiene, environment (clearing up the play room, picking up our litter, etc), compassion, cognitive stimulation with building blocks; constructing tricky elements in tasks that aided his coordination development and thus self esteem. When he completed a difficult task of working out how to, for example, hook the train's towing hitch to connect the train's carriage, his face would light up with pride. This made me smile to see how he feels good about his achievement at working through a task he thought originally he wasn't capable of. We also would go for walks in the woods and he loved to learn about nature; the flowers, trees and animals. We jumped in puddles, take the toy boat to the stream and listen to the birds. When Hugo's legs were tired (because it's only your feet and legs that get tired! They have to be encouraged to walk 'you a little further'!) we do "funny walking", hopping and skipping all the way home.
I applied the rule of SPLICE in all areas of the above examples:

I love spending time with children. Their imaginations are inspiring. I grew up 'as free as a bird' travelling around England with my parents and two sisters in our green van my dad nicknamed "Pegasus" (because the van "grew wings" when we slept and "flew" us to new desensitisation by the morning. Sure enough we woke many a morning in a new campsite next to a brand new beach to discover). It felt as magical as it were real.
I have a genuine interest in child psychology and behaviour/behavioural development.
The main focus of my role as your nanny would be the well being of your child/children. I would encourage compassion, self esteem building, art, free play, creativity, imagination, dance, music and nature into a professional "big sister" type of role where a caring, confident, secure and trusting relationship will build between myself and the family.
The English language is a peculiar language. If you require tutoring, I will willingly encourage learning as part of our everyday practice through singing, dancing, fun and games, and art. One to one reading and writing lessons as required on request from the parent/s to be discussed.
Cooking, meal prep/plan is welcome. Healthy food will always be the priority.
I like animals, so if you have pets it would not be a problem for me to undertake responsibility for them too; walking, feeding, emptying litter trays, etc.
I adore spending time with my cousin's daughter, Lily, who is 4 years old and I see regularly. We often go to have little adventures, which she and I love. She is a fantastic walker for such a small person! Her spirit is so refreshing - all children have it. It illuminates from within them. This is why I enjoy working with children.
I speak basic Spanish and Portuguese.
